Cordogan, Clark & Associates designed a new addition for Our Savior Lutheran Church, a traditional gothic stone church in a residential neighborhood of Aurora, Illinois. The growing congregation required new programmatic spaces and restored chapel and sanctuary areas. The architecture of the new addition, while contextual with the existing gothic stone building, incorporates newer technologies into the church, including solar heating and a state-of-the-art food service area.
This addition also provides a transition between on-street parking and on-site programming. It frames outdoor areas for ministry and community activities. Inside the church, CCA expanded sanctuary seating and designed areas for a Young Adult Center; Church Outreach office; Sunday school classrooms; a Music Ensemble room; a Multipurpose Room with kitchen; and a Meditation area.
